We play on Basset horns of the following brands:
Buffet Crampon (Prestige)
René's basset horn came into his possession in 1998. It was one of a series of five built in the Buffet-Crampon factory. René's teacher at the time, Reinier Hogerheyde, tried out the instruments and took one to the Netherlands for René.
Selmer
Wurlitzer
Arjan's basset horn (built in Erlbach in 1968) went to the Royal Opera in Stockholm via Wurlitzer Clarinetten (Neustadt). Because it was little used at that time, it was returned to Germany after a few decades. Arjan acquired this in 1985. During a concert in 2014 with the Streichergruppe Erlbach in the music city of Markneukirchen, the audience was very enthusiastic about the fact that, after all these years, 'their basset horn' was temporarily back in the place where it was built: in Erlbach, Saxony.
